SCOPE
Interior Design and Signage Strategy
Husband-and-wife team Graham and Emily Smith returned to their hospitality roots to launch SoupSmith, a concept that celebrates the comfort and familiarity of chef-crafted homemade soup. Swan Dive Design Studio translated that ethos into a space that feels strong and soulful, a pairing of hot-rolled steel and black-and-white finishes with the warmth of slatted wood.
Flow played a central role in the design. Positioned near the main entrance of Relish, the stall greets guests the moment they arrive—often with soup samples in hand. This informed the layout, with the menu display and ordering counter oriented toward the front door to create a natural, welcoming point of connection.
The design plays on contrast: industrial durability balanced by curated intimacy. A custom menu display built into the steel face allows for easy rotation, while a wood-screened kitchen keeps the atmosphere open but refined. Like the concept itself, the stall is grounded and heartfelt, a modern homage to the slow art of nourishment.
